Following organised acts of vandalism at power facilities in Berane and the bringing of those responsible to justice, a similar scenario has been repeated in recent days in the areas of Cetinje and Nikšić.

Last night, an unknown person stole a 50 kVA transformer, along with its connections to the low-voltage block, from the 10/0.4 kV Izvori transformer station. Today, after receiving a report that the village had no electricity supply, a crew went to the site and found that the transformer station had been vandalised.

CEDIS crews also reported this morning, following a report from residents to the on-call service of a power outage shortly after 10 p.m. last night, that a 50 kVA transformer and the connections between the transformer and the low-voltage block had been stolen from the 10/0.4 kV Musta rupa transformer station. As a result, several villages in Cetinje were without electricity yesterday.

These incidents in Cetinje are already reaching alarming proportions, given that similar acts took place on 6 and 9 January 2020, when transformers were stolen from the Lješev Stup 1 and Lješev Stup 2 transformer stations, as well as on 31 December 2019, when a similar theft occurred at the Ulići transformer station.

All cases have been duly reported to the Police Directorate.

We also wish to inform you that, in the afternoon of 9 January this year, an on-call crew in Nikšić, responding to a report from residents, found that one feeder from the Kočani II transformer station was out of service. The crew determined that approximately 80 metres of cable were missing as a result of it being forcibly severed. This caused an interruption to the electricity supply in part of the Kočani area, and the case was duly reported to the Nikšić Security Centre of the Police Directorate.

In addition to the material damage that CEDIS continues to suffer, our customers are also affected, as they are left without electricity until the damage is repaired, which can often take up to 48 hours.

We would like to remind you that any unauthorised access to power facilities is extremely dangerous.

For a negligible material gain, individuals risk their lives, disrupt the regular electricity supply and cause damage to the distribution system that far exceeds any potential profit.
