EPCG, CEDIS and CGES Join Forces for a Digital Future

Montenegro’s three key power companies –Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS), Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) and Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES) – today signed a Letter of Intent formalising the launch of strategic cooperation on the project to establish a Consolidated Data Centre (CDC). This initiative marks a significant step towards the digital transformation of Montenegro’s electricity system and the creation of a modern information hub.

Through this partnership, CEDIS, EPCG and CGES are pooling resources and expertise to create a technologically advanced system for data management and digital services. The Consolidated Data Centre will be located in the industrial complex of the Nikšić Steelworks, in premises already designated for this purpose. In addition to its primary role in modernising the power companies, the possibility of commercial use of the CDC’s capacity by other institutions and companies is also being considered.

Emphasising the importance of cooperation among Montenegro’s key energy companies, CEDIS Executive Director Vladimir Ivanović previously stated:

“Developing the electricity system involves not only investing in the network and capacity, but also in smart solutions that enable greater flexibility and operational security. The Consolidated Data Centre will enable better coordination among the companies, reduce operating costs and improve IT infrastructure. This investment will deliver long-term value to the energy sector and the Montenegrin economy,” Ivanović said.

The signatories have already launched the first activities – preparing a feasibility study that will define the technical and economic parameters of the project. Based on its findings, a separate Agreement will be adopted to specify the next steps in implementing the CDC.

CEDIS, EPCG and CGES are continuing strategic investments in the modernisation of Montenegro’s energy sector – for a more stable, secure and digitally advanced electricity system!
