The National Competition “ENERGY IN THE WIRES” Is Coming Soon

The “Energy in the Wires” electrical engineering competition will be held on 16 December 2022 at the CEDIS Training Centre. The previous three competitions for students of Montenegrin vocational secondary schools in the field of electrical engineering, “ENERGY IN THE WIRES”, were successfully organised by the Association of Electrical Engineering Teachers of Montenegro (UNECG) together with the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS), with the support of the Centre for Vocational Education.

It is particularly important to note that, starting this year, the competition will be an official National Competition in the field of electrical engineering, with rules defined by the Centre for Vocational Education.

All full-time students in the first through fourth grades of vocational and mixed secondary schools offering Level III and IV1 educational programmes in electrical engineering are eligible to participate, provided they have not competed in the “Energy in the Wires” competition during the previous three years. Invitations have been sent to vocational secondary schools in Tivat, Ulcinj, Nikšić, Berane, Pljevlja, Rožaje, Bijelo Polje and Podgorica.

Starting this year, “Energy in the Wires” is becoming an official National Competition, demonstrating the quality of the work and the soundness of the idea that CEDIS has been implementing for three years. This competition gives our secondary school students an opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have acquired in electrical engineering through theoretical and practical work. The past three competitions have shown that CEDIS has launched a project that is important for educational institutions, students and the Company alike. More specifically, among other things, the aim is to build links with educational institutions where students acquire the knowledge and skills needed for occupations relevant to CEDIS’s core business. As the competition will again be held this year at the CEDIS Training Centre, students will also have an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the Company’s core business.

Schools must submit information on their participation in the competition by 31 October 2022.

CEDIS has provided prizes for the top competitors. The team taking first place will receive €750, second place €600 and third place €450. A €250 prize has also been provided for the mentors of the winning teams, as well as a special €250 prize for the best individual competitor. CEDIS, UNECG and the Centre for Vocational Education will form a jury to assess the theoretical and practical components and announce the winners. The competition aims to promote the electrical engineering profession and highlight the importance of vocational secondary education.
