Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem is carrying out reconstruction works on five 35 kV overhead power lines in the municipalities of Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Bar and Budva (“Ribarevine – Šćepanica”, “Guke – Mataruge”, “Medanovići – Vrelo – Čokrlije”, “Šumani – Odžaci – Kosanica” and “Buljarica – Virpazar – Podgor”), with an estimated value of approximately EUR 1.4 million.

Works are well underway on all sections except the “Šumani – Odžaci – Kosanica” overhead power line. The project provides for the installation of 154 steel lattice towers, of which approximately 40 tower sites have been replaced to date. The project also includes the replacement of conductors, partially on certain sections, while the conductors along the entire length of the “Ribarevina – Šćepanica” and “Guke – Mataruge” overhead power lines will be replaced.

The project involves replacing all worn-out network components and installing new, high-quality equipment, thereby ensuring that the performance achieved through the reconstruction of the planned sections is maintained for as long as possible. Construction works are being carried out by Ramel under the Central Construction Contract, while CEDIS teams are engaged in the electrical installation works.

“One of CEDIS’s strategic priorities is for the company to rely as much as possible on its own resources, particularly in electrical installation work. Analyses show that this approach not only reduces costs, but also enables CEDIS electrical installation teams to carry out works more efficiently thanks to their knowledge of the system and the terrain, often exceeding planned targets. In addition, CEDIS is currently undertaking exceptionally important and financially demanding investment projects, which we are managing to deliver despite numerous challenges. Above all, I am referring to the energy crisis and inflation, which are putting electricity distributors under pressure worldwide, including in Western countries with stable finances and support systems that are unimaginable in Montenegro. Beyond the global crisis, there are also ongoing obstacles that delay the implementation of investments within the planned timeframes, relating to spatial planning documents and property-related legal matters. The delay in starting work on the fifth overhead power line under this project is precisely due to property-related legal issues. Nevertheless, despite all of the above, CEDIS is managing to overcome these adverse factors and maintain its investment momentum,” said Vladimir Ivanović, Head of the Operations Directorate.
The project will improve the reliability of the overhead power lines, ensure a high quality of supply for customers, and reduce the frequency of faults and the duration of outages to a minimum. Another important benefit of the reconstruction is a reduction in the number of complex field interventions in hard-to-reach areas, particularly during the winter months.
The works have been organized to keep power outages for customers to the necessary minimum, and customers will be notified in due time of any necessary interruptions.
