CEDIS is nearing completion of works worth €1.45 million to replace the 10 kV switchgear at the 110/10 kV “Kličevo” substation. Completion of this project will directly improve the stability and quality of electricity supply for around eight thousand customers in the old part of Nikšić, as well as in the settlements of Kličevo, Straševina, Vrtac and Kočani.
The previous switchgear was installed four decades ago, making this Project particularly important for the quality of supply to a significant part of Nikšić’s load area. It is also an essential infrastructure prerequisite for expanding the network and connecting new customers. Once the works are complete, the full capacity of the 110/10 kV transformers will be available. With forced cooling, these transformers have a rated capacity of 31.5 MVA, which was not previously possible due to the current limitations of the old busbar system.
Final construction works are currently under way. The remaining work includes integrating the facility into the 10 kV network and connecting the power transformers on the 10 kV side, which CEDIS will carry out in coordination with CGES. The current final activities on the Project will not affect the stability of electricity supply to Nikšić’s load area.
The Project provides for the installation of air-insulated 10 kV equipment manufactured by Siemens, while the works are being carried out by BB Solar DOO from Podgorica.
At the primary network level, CEDIS is implementing projects to build the 35/10 kV substations “Velje Brdo” and “Duklo”, as well as to reconstruct the 10 kV switchgear at the “Centar” 35/10 kV substation in Podgorica. Around five million euros have been allocated for these investments. At the same time, the second year of projects to revitalise the medium- and low-voltage networks in rural areas across Montenegro is nearing completion. The value of the contracted works under the revitalisation projects is around 26 million euros. A multi-million-euro project to implement a SCADA system for the remote monitoring and control of the distribution network is also in preparation, along with the third expanded phase of the Project to install remotely controlled electronic meters.
