CEDIS donates thirteen thousand six hundred euros to Kotor General Hospital

On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System donated €13,600 to Kotor General Hospital. The donated funds were used to purchase a blood gas analyser, which is essential for providing adequate medical care to patients diagnosed with coronavirus.

The donation to Kotor General Hospital is yet another confirmation, first and foremost, of CEDIS’s commitment to social responsibility, as well as its strong dedication to and partnership with healthcare institutions in Montenegro. At the event held to mark the handover of the donation, CEDIS Executive Director Vladimir Čađenović emphasised the firm resolve of the management of one of Montenegro’s largest and most successful companies to support the healthcare sector—not in the short term, but continuously and in a strategically planned manner—so that healthcare institutions can count on CEDIS as a reliable and ever-present source of support.

– The principle is that if you operate profitably in a particular community, you should also support that community. As a state-owned company, CEDIS has an additional responsibility in this regard. Our priorities are clearly defined: first and foremost, healthcare, education and the environment, as well as culture and sport. However, what I will insist on is long-term, carefully planned activity, stable cooperation and support, far removed from short-term projects devised to attract media attention rather than solve problems in a meaningful way. In other words, you have a reliable partner in us who will always work for you, within our means, and thereby for the common good – Čađenović emphasised.

Kotor General Hospital also provides healthcare services to patients from the areas of Tivat, Herceg Novi and part of Budva. It is distinguished by the exceptional quality of its staff, which was particularly evident during the coronavirus pandemic. Dr Davor Kumburović, Director of Kotor General Hospital, thanked CEDIS and expressed confidence that their cooperation would continue.

– Thank you for recognising the complexity and gravity of the situation facing the healthcare sector as a whole, and for donating funds, as an expression of understanding, solidarity and humanity, which we urgently need to purchase equipment essential for the proper medical treatment of patients diagnosed with coronavirus – said Kumburović.

Kotor Mayor Vladimir Jokić and Dr Slobodan Mandić, Director General of the Directorate for Healthcare Quality Control at the Ministry of Health, also expressed their special gratitude and confidence in the continuation of cooperation.

– Through its work during the coronavirus crisis and before it, but especially throughout the crisis, Kotor General Hospital has earned a particular focus of attention from state institutions, since it serves four towns and, during the summer, provides healthcare services to tourists in an area that is central to Montenegrin tourism. I must emphasise that I am satisfied with and grateful for the support from CEDIS and other state-owned companies, and for the policies that recognise the importance of this hospital. I am confident that this is just the beginning of a successful partnership – Jokić noted.

– This is an important donation that has come at just the right time. It is precisely through this kind of partnership and donations that we can significantly improve Montenegro’s healthcare system, as much of it is not at a satisfactory level. Transformation requires considerable effort, time and money, but I believe that by working together we can make this system functional and efficient, perhaps in a much shorter time than we expect – Dr Mandić emphasised.

We would like to remind readers that CEDIS is a signatory to an agreement with the Clinical Centre, under which it is committed to donating €25,000 annually through 2023. Since 2017, the value of its socially responsible partnership with the country’s largest healthcare institution has reached €130,000. In addition to healthcare, the corporate social responsibility strategy of the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System places particular emphasis on supporting sport and educational institutions. Since the beginning of the year, donation agreements worth more than €150,000 have been implemented, with the largest contributions going to support KCCG and, as is customary, the Handball Federation and the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro. CEDIS has received multiple awards for its socially responsible business practices and for supporting a significant number of projects in healthcare, education, culture and employee welfare.
