The Association of Electrical Engineering Teachers of Montenegro (UNECG), together with the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS), is organising the second “ENERGY IN THE WIRE” competition for students of Montenegrin secondary vocational schools in the field of electrical engineering. The competition will be held on 20 November at the CEDIS Training Centre in Podgorica.
Students in the second and third years of schools offering courses in electrical engineering will take part in the competition. Secondary vocational schools in Tivat, Nikšić, Berane, Pljevlja, Rožaje, Bijelo Polje and Podgorica have been invited to participate.
“‘Energy in the Wire’ is becoming a traditional competition where our secondary school students have the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the field of electrical engineering through theoretical and practical work. Last year’s competition showed that we had launched a project of importance to educational institutions, students and CEDIS. More specifically, among other things, we want to build links between educational institutions where students acquire the knowledge and skills needed for occupations that CEDIS requires to carry out its core business. Since this year’s competition will be held at our Training Centre, students will also have the opportunity to learn about our core business first-hand,” said Marija Jovović, Head of CEDIS’s Corporate Communications Service.
Schools may register one team of three members by 10 October. Valuable cash prizes have also been provided for the competition winners.
“The prize for the team taking first place will be EUR 750, EUR 600 for second place and EUR 450 for third place. A prize has also been provided for the mentors of the winning teams, as well as for the best school: a laptop. Starting this year, a special prize of EUR 250 will also be awarded to the best individual contestant. CEDIS and UNECG will form a jury to assess the theoretical and practical work and declare the best school. The purpose of organising the competition is to promote the electrical engineering profession, as well as the importance of secondary vocational education,” said Jovović.
