The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System today (12 July 2021) commissioned the new 10/0.4 kV “Markičići” substation in Čanj. This facility will significantly improve the quality of electricity supply for our customers in this tourist resort, resulting in fewer outages and faults, particularly during periods of overload that occur at the height of the season.
Vojislav Vukadinović, Chief Project Delivery Engineer at CEDIS, who oversaw the construction and commissioning of the “Markičići” substation, said that all work had been completed before the start of the main tourist season, in accordance with the established plans.
“The 1 x 630 kVA ‘Markičići’ substation is a prefabricated concrete facility with external access for operation and maintenance. It is a very important energy facility that will greatly improve the challenging voltage conditions in this well-known tourist resort and enable an adequate response to Čanj’s rapid development and the connection of new customers. Particular emphasis was placed on its integration into the low-voltage network, which the Region 4 Maintenance Department achieved by constructing a further four ABC cable feeders,” Vukadinović explained.
Milan Vojvodić, Chief Engineer in the Region 4 Maintenance Department, added that with the commissioning of the 10/0.4 kV “Markičići” substation and its integration into the 10 kV and 0.4 kV networks, customers in the Čanj 2 and Markičić settlements can expect an immediate improvement in voltage conditions in the coming days.
“This new energy facility will also significantly reduce the load on the existing substation supplying Čanj 2 Street and Smokvina Street, providing that area with a more secure and reliable electricity supply,” said Milan Vojvodić, who, together with his colleagues, made considerable efforts to maintain a stable electricity supply in the Čanj area, particularly during the summer tourist season.
CEDIS is the investor in the construction of this energy facility, with an investment value of EUR 58,500.00.
