As part of the “My Tree” planting initiative, organised by CEDIS and the company “Zelenilo” and held today on Georgi Zhukov Boulevard in Podgorica, 45 mature hackberry trees were planted.
The saplings were donated by our company, making this the largest donation and planting initiative to date through the “My Tree” app, launched last year by “Zelenilo” in cooperation with the Capital City and “Amplitudo” d.o.o.
CEDIS allocated around €3,500 to help make Podgorica greener through today’s initiative, and our employees actively took part in the planting.
Marija Jovović, Head of the Corporate Communications Department, noted on this occasion that the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System and its employees had once again demonstrated their commitment to the community and the environment in which they work.
– What prompted us to support the “My Tree” project was not only the desire to help create pleasant shade in this area or to create a green oasis; the reasons go deeper, especially today, when so much attention is being paid to eliminating the negative consequences of urban development. We must all be aware of how important a single tree is to us as individuals, as well as to society as a whole. The fact that one tree produces enough oxygen for two adults in the course of a year should inspire everyone, just as it inspired us, the employees of CEDIS, and our company to do something so noble and contribute to nature by planting a tree, Jovović said.
Milica Vukčević, PR Manager at “Zelenilo”, said she hoped that socially responsible companies would continue to be willing to help make the capital greener, as the aim is to put Podgorica back on the map of Europe’s greenest cities.
