CEDIS Helped Purchase a Cardiac Ultrasound Machine

Representatives of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro and the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System visited the Institute for Children’s Diseases today, where a new cardiac ultrasound machine worth 60,000 euros has been installed. CEDIS provided half of the funding for its purchase.

Draško Nikčević, a cardiologist at the Institute for Children’s Diseases, said that the new cardiac ultrasound machine is at the cutting edge globally and enables the evaluation and diagnosis of the most complex congenital heart defects.

– Around 20 children with complex heart defects are born in Montenegro each year. The pathology found among the youngest patients requires sophisticated diagnostic techniques, which this premium-class machine provides. I believe that an institution of this kind, a national umbrella institution responsible for children’s health, deserves such a machine, whose software can be upgraded over the next 20 years, said Nikčević.

The Director of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro, Zorica Kovačević, said that they had waited ten years for a cardiac ultrasound machine.

– Thanks to the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System, we were able to purchase the most modern machine, and I hope it will continue to support the Institute. CEDIS is a true example of how socially responsible companies invest part of their annual profits in the nation’s health, above all that of the youngest, said Kovačević, adding that they would also receive a new magnetic resonance imaging machine in early April and that donor funding for the project had already been secured.

– We still need to ensure that we have a sufficient number of staff in the coming period and take things step by step in providing high-quality healthcare, above all for the youngest, said Kovačević.

Zoran Đukanović

On behalf of the healthcare system and all those who will need the machine, she presented a certificate of appreciation to CEDIS Executive Director Zoran Đukanović.

– Children are our greatest concern, and we are very pleased that, as a socially responsible company, we had the opportunity to purchase and donate such a powerful machine to this Institute. I hope there will be more initiatives like this and that we will continue to support the Clinical Centre, especially the Institute, said Đukanović, adding that CEDIS is a young company, recently established as an independent business entity, although it operates in a sector with a history spanning several decades in Montenegro.

The CEDIS Executive Director expressed the hope that the Institute would not have a large number of patients, and that all those who do come there would receive high-quality care and leave the institution in good health.
