CEDIS Increases Capacity of the 35/10 kV “Tivat” Substation Ahead of the Summer Tourist Season

In May, CEDIS successfully completed a major investment project involving the replacement of power transformers and an increase in installed capacity at the 35/10 kV “Tivat” substation. This has created the conditions for a safer and more reliable electricity supply to customers in the Tivat area and surrounding settlements, particularly during the period of increased consumption in the summer tourist season.

The “Tivat” substation is one of the key power facilities in this part of the distribution network, supplying electricity to customers in the Municipality of Tivat and suburban settlements served by this load area. The facility was built in the 1980s, and until this project was completed, it was equipped with two power transformers, each with a capacity of 8 MVA.

The continued development of the Municipality of Tivat, the increase in the number of customers and the growth in electricity consumption created the need to increase the substation’s capacity. In line with CEDIS’s investment plans, new transformers, each with a capacity of 12.5 MVA, were procured and installed. This significantly increased the facility’s capacity, improved security of supply and created an additional reserve to meet the conditions expected during the summer tourist season. The total value of the project exceeds EUR 650,000.

The implementation of this demanding project required the involvement of CEDIS operational services. In addition to replacing the power transformers, the work also included the reconstruction of the associated transformer bays. Current transformers were replaced, modern microprocessor-based relay devices were installed, and detailed adjustments, parameterisation and functional testing were carried out. Modernisation of the relay protection system further improved the reliability of the facility’s operation.

This project marks another step towards modernising the distribution network and improving the quality of electricity supply in the Municipality of Tivat. It confirms CEDIS’s commitment to continuous investment in the area, contributing to the reliability of the electricity distribution system ahead of the summer tourist season.

We also note that a new tender procedure is under way for the construction of the new 35/10 kV “Tivat 3” substation, with a total estimated value of EUR 2.5 million, together with the associated 35 kV and 10 kV cable lines.
