CEDIS Marks Six Years of Independent Operations

The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) marked the sixth anniversary of its independent operations last night with a ceremony on the plaza in front of the Music Centre.

“The previous period posed an enormous challenge for society as a whole, which faced numerous obstacles and problems. At the most difficult times, CEDIS was among those who could not afford to stop, so that the system could continue to function normally. Our electrical technicians and all employees shared the same task: ensuring that every customer had a reliable electricity supply. We worked diligently and responsibly every day to maintain the continuity and quality of our services. Thanks to this work, we have once again shown that CEDIS is a strong pillar of support for all citizens. We therefore owe our gratitude to all employees, especially our field colleagues who looked after the network and the system,” said, among other things, Chief Executive Officer Vladimir Čađenović.

“Nevertheless, despite the difficulties caused by the circumstances described above, as well as the specific working conditions and restrictions that further complicated our already extensive and demanding tasks, we found the only constructive response amid unprecedented turbulence in the energy market: intensive field activities to curb unauthorised consumption. The savings amount to millions, and the results are record-breaking. Thanks to good organisation and commitment in the field, losses in the distribution system have been reduced to a historic low,” Čađenović said, adding that we are particularly proud that the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System successfully completed the second year of the Medium- and Low-Voltage Network Revitalisation Projects and, even under these extraordinary conditions, laid the groundwork for the Projects to continue in the autumn.

CEDIS is recognised by the public as a socially responsible company that not only allocates significant funds to support the communities in which it operates, but also strives to establish itself as a dependable pillar of support for the long term.

CEDIS’s socially responsible activities primarily focus on healthcare in Montenegro. Since 2017, including this year’s donations, CEDIS has donated more than €160,000 to the Clinical Centre. Support for primary and secondary schools and universities in Montenegro is another cornerstone of CEDIS’s socially responsible activities. Our support for sport is support for fighting spirit, talent and national pride.

CEDIS is made up of employees who bring added value to the Company every day through their expertise and dedicated work. As in previous years, this ceremony was dedicated to the best among them, recognising their achievements, enthusiasm, discipline and dedication so that they would be remembered.

This year, Dragan Pupavac, electrical technician for inspection and maintenance of metering points 1, was selected as CEDIS Employee of the Year, while Branko Knežević, Head of the Maintenance Service for Region 6, was selected as Manager of the Year. In addition to the main awards, eight special “Energy in the Heart” awards were presented to Luka Samardžić, substation electrical technician in the R5 Maintenance Service; Mersid Međedović, legal practice specialist in the Legal Practice Service; Biljana Samardžić, Chief Project Preparation Engineer; Srđa Šćepović, dispatcher in the R2 Network Management Service; Svetlana Razić, economic analysis officer; Maja Dragović, archivist; Tijana Radović, customer relations officer; and Jelena Rakočević, Network Access Engineer.

Employee of the Year Dragan Pupavac said that it was a great honour to be chosen as the best among so many talented and dedicated people at CEDIS last year.

“I would like to thank my superiors and colleagues for their excellent cooperation and support, without which I would not have received this award. It is a privilege to work in such an environment,” Pupavac said.

Branko Knežević also thanked his managers Rajko Fuštić and Vuk Vukićević for having supported him from the outset in all his work and for nominating him for such a prestigious award. He also thanked the Selection Committee, and especially his team of engineers and electrical technicians, who gave their utmost to ensure that the Revitalisation Project in Region 6 was implemented to a very high standard in such a challenging period.

The other award recipients also thanked the colleagues who supported them on their path to success, emphasising that there can be no outstanding individual without a good team. These awards are the result of shared, dedicated and responsible work, and an additional motivation for the work ahead.
