CEDIS Executive Director Vladimir Čađenović presented awards to educational institutions as part of the “Energy Underlined in Green” competition. This is a project that CEDIS has implemented for the third consecutive year in cooperation with the Bureau for Education.
CEDIS Executive Director Vladimir Čađenović said that with the “Energy Underlined in Green” project, they wanted to support Montenegro’s commitment to being an ecological state, while also raising awareness among students, teachers and the community about the importance of the environment.
“Our wish was for students to become involved, as creatively and in as large numbers as possible, in solving environmental problems and preserving what nature has so generously given Montenegro. Year after year, we see that we have succeeded, as many schools submit very serious projects in this field every year. CEDIS strives to incorporate its environmental protection strategy, one of today’s greatest challenges, into the business planning process, so that the management of environmental impacts becomes an integral part of our operations,” said Čađenović.
First place in the competition went to the ZERO WASTE SCHOOL project, prepared by the Vuk Karadžić Primary School in Podgorica. Second place went to the ROOFTOP GROWS project by the Secondary School of Economics and Hospitality in Nikšić. Third place was awarded to the WE CHOOSE TO RECYCLE project by the Mirko Srzentić Primary School in Petrovac.
In addition to these three awards, the expert jury recognized two more outstanding projects.
The Kekec Primary School in Sutomore received recognition for its LET’S RECYCLE WASTE THAT POLLUTES OUR SEA project, while the Novka Ubović Primary School in Podgorica was also awarded for its OUTDOOR NURSERY WORKSHOP project.
The Commission members unanimously decided that the remaining funds, amounting to EUR 1,020, after the grants for the first five projects had been awarded, would this year be granted to the Petar I Petrović Njegoš Grammar School in Danilovgrad for its POLLINATOR PARK IN THE SCHOOLYARD project, which was ranked sixth.
By way of reminder, the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System, in cooperation with the Bureau for Education of Montenegro, which implements the International Eco-Schools Programme, launched the “Energy Underlined in Green” environmental protection project competition on 20 September. Educational institutions implementing the International Eco-Schools Programme—that is, those holding the international Green Flag award—as well as institutions that had applied to pilot the Eco-Schools Programme, were eligible to participate. The prize fund amounted to EUR 15,000.
