Boričić thanked the Employers’ Union for recognising Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System as a company that develops and implements socially responsible practices.

– As one of the country’s most important business entities and an active contributor to the development of Montenegrin society, Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System has for years supported the diverse needs of the community in which it operates and, in line with its own capabilities, responded to a large number of requests, always striving to make the right choices and help where it is needed most. We will continue to foster corporate social responsibility as an integral part of our long-term business strategy, said Boričić.

For years, the Employers’ Union of Montenegro has organised awards for examples of good practice in corporate social responsibility under the title “UPCG Awards for CSR”. The awards are presented to small, medium-sized and large enterprises in the following areas: (1) Care for Employees, (2) Care for the Environment and (3) Care for the Community.

The event also featured a ceremony announcing the winners of the “UPCG Awards for the Best Female Managers” for 2022. Special UPCG recognitions were also presented to those who stood out through their work, business policies, management practices and achievements.

UPCG President Predrag Mitrović noted on this occasion that, for Montenegro to join the European family, it must have a stable and enabling business environment, sustainable and competitive enterprises, and a qualified workforce. This cannot be achieved without social dialogue—that is, a social consensus.

“The Employers’ Union will remain committed to achieving the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and in particular Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth,” Mitrović said.

Nina Krgović, representative of the International Labour Organization, said that the Employers’ Union had been a reliable partner to the organisation she represents since its inception.

“Over the past years, we have collaborated on a wide range of activities—from preparing analyses, position papers and research to providing direct support to businesses. I must also highlight what may be most important: our cooperation in updating an entire set of labour laws, through the work of tripartite working groups supported by ILO experts,” Krgović emphasised. She noted that the Union’s representatives had made, and continued to make, an immeasurable contribution to all our joint activities.
