As a special form of support for closer cooperation between industry and academia, CEDIS Board of Directors President Rajko Radošević, together with his associates, organised a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Professor Saša Mujović, PhD, and the President of the CIRED Montenegro Committee, Dr Goran Kovačević, with the aim of intensifying the already exceptionally fruitful cooperation between the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and CEDIS in areas of shared interest. Particular emphasis was placed on developing opportunities for the Faculty to support the management team of the CIRED Montenegro National Committee. CIRED Montenegro is a branch of one of the leading international organisations in the field of electricity distribution—the International Conference on Electricity Distribution (CIRED), where international best practice in electricity distribution management is presented.

The Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Professor Saša Mujović, PhD, said that the proposed cooperation was important to both parties and that he fully supported the initiative.
“This is an excellent initiative that can be further developed to take current practice a step forward. In addition to putting forward our academic staff as candidates to serve on CIRED committees, this form of cooperation will encourage students to participate in CIRED’s work, given that it is standard practice to include at least one conference paper when preparing a master’s thesis,” said Dr Saša Mujović, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

The President of CIRED Montenegro, Dr Goran Kovačević, thanked the Faculty of Electrical Engineering for its support and shared his views on further promoting CIRED Montenegro and strengthening its links with industry. He also considers it important that the new CIRED working model will make it easier to produce conference papers.
“In our country, multimillion-euro projects have been completed without ever being published. I consider these missed opportunities, and this practice must change. It is a process, but things must move on from where they stand today. This will be a task for CIRED Montenegro in the coming period,” said Kovačević.
The proposal by the President of CIRED to provide a form of support to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering by suggesting topics for undergraduate and master’s theses received considerable backing. Professor Mujović said that this was a path to higher quality for both the Faculty and CEDIS.
“This creates a workforce ready to tackle problems. The time for invented research topics is behind us. We must take a step forward by making current issues the subject of student papers. As a leading organisation in this field, CIRED can certainly help propose topics that address the heart of the problem and that students should explore in their work. These students will become the driving force behind the development of CEDIS and other energy companies,” Mujović emphasised.

Reflecting on the excellent cooperation the company has maintained with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, CEDIS Board of Directors President Rajko Radošević said that meetings of this kind are extremely important for bringing industry and scientific institutions together, with the ultimate aim of developing qualified professionals who will drive CEDIS forward.
“CEDIS will use all its resources to support the CIRED Montenegro National Committee and its cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. We are confident that this will help strengthen our engineers’ technical competencies and, in turn, contribute to developing an even more qualified workforce for the company,” Radošević concluded.
