CHEQUES PRESENTED TO THE WINNERS OF THE “ENERGY UNDERLINED IN GREEN” COMPETITION

The Executive Director of the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS), Vladimir Ivanović, presented awards to educational institutions that stood out with their projects as part of the “Energy Underlined in Green” competition. This is the fourth consecutive year that CEDIS has implemented the project in cooperation with the Bureau for Education.

Executive Director Vladimir Ivanović noted that the “Energy Underlined in Green” project aims to raise awareness among students, teachers and the wider community about the importance of environmental protection.

“The aim of the project is to encourage students, teachers and the entire community to actively engage in protecting the environment. We believe that young people have the power to change the world around them, and that projects such as this can help strengthen awareness of sustainable development. The ‘Energy Underlined in Green’ competition is not only an opportunity to reward the best, but also a call for all young people to understand from an early age how important it is to protect our planet for future generations. Through education and joint efforts, we can lay the foundations for a better and greener future, and young people have a key role to play in this mission,” Ivanović said.

The first prize in the competition went to the “Sort and Save” project, prepared by the “Mirko Srzentić” Primary School in Petrovac. Second place went to the “Furniture Made from Recycled Materials for Children’s Physical Activities” project, submitted by the “Ljubica V. Jovanović – Maše” Public Preschool Institution in Budva. Third place went to the “Compost for the Future – Little Environmentalists of the Maša Kindergarten” project, implemented by the Maša Private Preschool Institution in Podgorica.

In addition to these awards, the expert jury recognised three more projects. Awards were given to the “Veljko Drobnjaković” Primary School in Risan for the “School Recycling Yard” project, the “Mileva Lajović Lalatović” Primary School in Nikšić for the “Schoolyard – Outdoor Classroom” project, and the “Oktoih” Primary School in Podgorica for the “School Organic Eco-Garden” project.

Taking into account the diversity of the institutions’ creativity and needs in implementing their projects, the committee unanimously decided, as an incentive for future years and the development of new projects, to award those whose budgets had not reached the maximum permitted amount. Accordingly, after funding had been awarded to the first six projects, the remaining amount of EUR 250 was added to the awards already granted to the “Veljko Drobnjaković” Primary School in Risan and the “Oktoih” Primary School in Podgorica.

As a reminder, on 20 September the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System, in cooperation with the Bureau for Education of Montenegro, announced a competition for an environmental protection project entitled “Energy Underlined in Green”. Educational institutions implementing the International Eco-Schools Programme were eligible to participate, namely those holding the international Green Flag award, as well as institutions that had applied to pilot the Eco-Schools Programme. The prize fund amounted to EUR 15,000.
