Consumption down 12 percent in February

Users of the electricity distribution system took a total of 239,085,985 kWh of electricity in February, around 12 percent less than in January. The largest amount of electricity, around 40 percent, was distributed to users in the areas of Podgorica, Danilovgrad and Cetinje (Region 2).

A total of 387,717 meters were read, or 94 percent of the total number (unread metering points are located in buildings that are not permanently occupied). The meter reading rate at metering points equipped with new electronic meters is 99 percent.

In February, the Maintenance Sector teams responded in the field 1,855 times. The value of work carried out to maintain electricity facilities amounted to €426,311.

392 new users were connected to the distribution network during February.

Last month, 560 new electronic meters were installed across Montenegro. The total number of metering points in Montenegro equipped with remotely controlled electronic meters is around 335,000, covering more than 80 percent of consumption.

At the secondary network level, construction is under way in the Kotor area on two transformer stations, 10/0.4 kV “Kavač 6” and “Kavač 7”, and technical acceptance is under way for the 10/0.4 kV transformer station “Studentski dom”. The value of these three facilities is around €230,000. During February, work was also carried out to obtain documentation or procure the necessary equipment and works for 18 projects, also at the secondary network level, with a total value of around €1.4 million. Most of this amount will be allocated to the construction of transformer stations (10/0.4 kV) and associated networks in the areas of Podgorica and Bar. In the Podgorica area, projects to construct seven transformer stations (10/0.4 kV), worth around €590,000, are under way, while in the Bar area five projects to build new facilities (10/0.4 kV transformer stations), worth around €380,000, are currently in progress.

CEDIS’s core business is the distribution of electricity and the construction and maintenance of distribution facilities and networks. CEDIS distributes electricity to around 414,000 users across Montenegro.
