Cooperation between RSCG and CEDIS Extended

The Handball Federation of Montenegro (RSCG) and the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) are continuing their cooperation. This was formalised today at the premises of the “Montenegrin home of handball”, when CEDIS Executive Director Zoran Đukanović presented a cheque representing a donation of 25,000 euros to Federation President Petar Kapisoda. Following last year’s sponsorship agreement, the parties agreed to continue their cooperation, which is expected to contribute to further successful performances, primarily by the national teams on the international stage, as well as to the development of handball in all centres across our country.

Recalling that CEDIS was the first company with which the Handball Federation of Montenegro signed a sponsorship agreement during the term of office of the new management of the “Montenegrin home of handball”, Kapisoda said he believes that 2020 will also be a successful year for Montenegrin handball, to the delight of fans and handball enthusiasts, as well as all the Federation’s sponsors and partners.

“Continuing our cooperation is a logical next step following the many successes we achieved together in 2019. Our male and female handball players took part in European and world championships, enabling us to retain our place among the countries represented at the biggest competitions in both the men’s and women’s events. But we are already looking ahead to new challenges—we are well into an Olympic year, which is a major challenge for all national federations and athletes, especially ours, whose trophy cabinet holds the only Olympic medal won by Montenegrin athletes since the restoration of independence. Therefore, I believe that the women’s team will celebrate qualifying for the Olympics at the end of March, that the men’s team will secure qualification for the World Championship in June, and that this summer will also be successful for our younger national teams. If that happens—and I am certain that our young men and women will do their utmost to meet expectations—the investment of socially responsible companies such as CEDIS will have been fully worthwhile. I would like to express once again my satisfaction that CEDIS has recognised the Handball Federation of Montenegro as a partner with whom it can achieve its business objectives, and I believe that our cooperation will be long-term and beneficial to both parties to the agreement,” Kapisoda said.

Đukanović emphasised that, in addition to competition, sport has important educational, health, cultural, social and other benefits, and that CEDIS views the development of sport as part of the overall development of the state and society.

“As a socially responsible company, CEDIS carefully selects the partners it provides with financial support. The results achieved by our teams in international competitions have shown that our decision last year to partner with the Handball Federation of Montenegro was the right one. We were all proud of our “Lionesses” and their fifth-place finish at the World Championship, then of our senior national team’s participation in the European Championship, as well as our men’s cadet team winning the silver medal at the Mediterranean Championship for the second year in a row. These are major achievements, and they are particularly significant to us at CEDIS because we contributed, at least a little, to those results.

It is clear that handball in Montenegro is approached strategically, as demonstrated by the results and the development of players at every level. In such circumstances, it is certainly much easier when you do not have to worry about finances, and the support of partners such as CEDIS is important in this respect. What we can all learn from our handball teams, whether we are involved in sport or work for a corporation, organisation or institution, is the sense of unity and team spirit essential to success, for which our “Lionesses” and “Lions” are renowned. That is why I believe you will make us proud again at the upcoming competitions—there are many this year—and that we will celebrate your successes together. You have our support; CEDIS is always behind the best,” Đukanović said.
