Damage Caused by Fires Cost CEDIS Over €140,000

In recent months, Montenegro has faced devastating wildfires that have left numerous consequences in their wake. In addition to significantly affecting the quality of the environment and human health, the fires also caused extensive material damage.

Throughout the fires, our teams remained on standby at all times, bravely fought on the ground in extremely difficult conditions, and managed to repair the damage caused, helping colleagues from other services and ensuring that customers at risk from the fires continued to receive electricity.

Following this fierce battle, the situation gradually stabilised, allowing us to assess the material damage sustained by the company. A detailed analysis produced an estimate of the costs required to repair the faults caused by the fires. It showed that our company had to spend around €75,000 on materials and works in Region 1, while in Region 2 it spent over €61,000 for the same purpose.

Since the start of the summer season, more than 250 poles have been replaced due to the damage caused by fires across Montenegro.

As noted, 55 employees were deployed by our company during and after this natural disaster. In addition to their regular duties under the Maintenance Plan, they worked around the clock in fire-affected areas. Through their dedication and courage, they set a true example of commitment to the company and love for their country, for which we are immensely grateful.

The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System will continue to invest in and modernise the distribution network to ensure the most reliable electricity supply possible for its customers.
