Donation to Podgorica Grammar School on the Occasion of Its 111th Anniversary

Education is undoubtedly the foundation of a successful society. Nevertheless, it is sometimes necessary to set an example and emphasise that ensuring young people receive an adequate education is not the sole responsibility of the education system, but of all segments of society, particularly those with the means to provide material support for educational processes.

This year, CEDIS will begin supporting education with the project “From the Heart for Grammar School Students”. The support will take the form of a monetary donation to “Slobodan Škerović” Grammar School, marking the 111th anniversary of the first four-grade general secondary school in Podgorica.

The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System has already established itself publicly as a company with a strong commitment to social responsibility. Our community-focused activities will be further strengthened in the future, with a particular emphasis on the education system, an indispensable part of our socially responsible strategy.

“Caring for the community in which CEDIS operates is our fundamental business principle. We are honoured to support educational processes, particularly in institutions with a tradition such as that of Podgorica Grammar School. A significant number of highly qualified CEDIS professionals graduated from this secondary school, and for that reason, too, we have a responsibility to be there for the Grammar School and its students,” said Marija Jovović, Head of Corporate Communications at CEDIS. “This is our beginning, and I hope and believe that we will carry out many more projects together, all with the aim of improving conditions for students’ education. CEDIS wishes the Grammar School and its students a heartfelt happy 111th anniversary,” Jovović concluded.

The “From the Heart for Grammar School Students” project provides financial assistance of EUR 4,900, which is needed to equip specialist classrooms and to carry out activities supporting the professional development of teaching staff at this educational institution.

“We are deeply grateful to those who recognise the importance of supporting an institution such as the Grammar School. Improving the quality of a school’s work also involves ensuring that its facilities are functional and developing our staff, who must be prepared for the challenges of a new era. We will use part of the funds to send our teachers and students to visit a school with a similar focus in Italy to exchange experiences, and part to purchase additional teaching resources for the specialist classrooms,” said Zoja Bojanić Lalović, Principal of the Grammar School.

In less than two years of independent operations, CEDIS has earned public recognition as a socially responsible company, as confirmed by an award from the Employers’ Union of Montenegro. The “UPCG Corporate Social Responsibility Award” was presented to CEDIS at the end of last year in recognition of its support for a significant number of projects in the fields of healthcare, education and culture.
