February consumption 12 per cent lower than in January

In February, electricity distribution system users consumed a total of 241,954,027 kWh of electricity, 12 per cent less than in January and slightly more than during the same period of the previous year. The largest amount of electricity, around 36 per cent, was distributed to users in the areas of Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Tuzi and Cetinje (Region 2).

A total of 393,830 meters were read, or 93 per cent of the total number (unread metering points are located in buildings that are not permanently occupied). The meter-reading rate for metering points equipped with new electronic meters is 99 per cent.

In February, the Maintenance Sector teams carried out 2,156 field interventions. The value of works to maintain electricity facilities amounted to around  194 thousand euros.

A total of 353 new users were connected to the distribution network in February.

CEDIS launched a public procurement procedure for the construction of the “Bigova” and “Grbalj 2” 35/10 kV substations, for which approximately €3.9 million has been earmarked. Also at the primary level, works worth around €217,000 are under way in Bijelo Polje to reconstruct the 35 kV “Ribarevine–Šćepanica” overhead line. At the secondary network level, works worth €260,000 are under way to construct two new substations in Budva and Podgorica (NDTS 10/0.4 kV “Rafailovići 1 – Nova” and NDTS 10/0.4 kV “No. 10”, according to the “Univerzitetski centar” Detailed Urban Plan). A significant part of the project to construct the €130,000 double-circuit 10 kV “Petnjica” overhead line (from the “Berane 3” 35/10 kV substation to the branch pole in Paljuh) was also completed in February.

Last month, 21 new electronic meters were installed in Montenegro. The total number of metering points in Montenegro equipped with remotely operated electronic meters is around 338,000, covering more than 80 per cent of electricity consumption.

CEDIS’s core activities are the distribution of electricity and the construction and maintenance of distribution facilities and the network. CEDIS distributes electricity to around 422,000 users across Montenegro.
