“Grbalj 2” Substation Commissioned for Trial Operation

The newly built 35/10 kV “Grbalj 2” substation in Kotor, of crucial importance for the further development of the area, has been commissioned for trial operation to functionally test the installed equipment and systems.

This investment, worth around two million euros, is a long-term solution to the growing energy needs of this coastal municipality.

The new “Grbalj 2” substation, built in less than ten months, meets the highest technical and technological standards and complies with urban planning and environmental requirements. This enhancement of the power system, which contributes to continuity and quality of electricity supply—the foundation of distribution activities—will bring multiple benefits even during trial operation to around two thousand customers in the areas of Lastva Grbaljska, Kovačko Polje, Glavatske Kućice, Gorovići, Bratešići, Glavatičići, Kovači, Zagora, Višnjevo, Pićan, Krimovica, Trsteno and Platamuni, who were previously supplied from the 35/10 kV “Dubovica” substation.

Following the integration of the substation into the 10 kV network and its connection to the 10 kV cable lines built as part of the reconstruction works on the Tivat–Jaz Boulevard, as well as the planned development of the 10 kV network towards Budva, the long-term stability and reliability of electricity supply will be ensured not only for the above-mentioned load area, but also for customers in the Grbalj area, while capacity will also be available for connecting new customers.

This infrastructure project is an important foundation for the further development of the Municipality of Kotor. The demanding construction works on the “Grbalj 2” substation were entrusted to Elektro Tim from Budva.
