Investment Drive for Improved Power Supply to Danilovgrad and Users in the Capital City

The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System has contracted significant investment activities to upgrade the 35 kV switchgear at the Gornja Zeta 35/10 kV substation, the Gorica A 35/10 kV substation, and the Danilovgrad 35/10 kV substation.

Once the works are completed, users in the wider and narrower areas of Danilovgrad and Podgorica will have a more reliable and higher-quality electricity supply.

Last week, the previously contracted procurement was completed at the 35 kV switchgear in the Gornja Zeta 35/10 kV substation, replacing worn-out parts of the installation. The works were carried out under the expert supervision of CEDIS’s Maintenance Sector. The teams completed work on the substation switchgear in full and commissioned it.

The works included dismantling worn-out substation components (the busbar and circuit-breaker modules), installing new equipment components, setting relay parameters, and carrying out dielectric and partial discharge tests. The Gornja Zeta 35 kV substation was then commissioned. Zeta, Donji Kokoti, and Donja Gorica will directly benefit from these works in terms of voltage conditions and the quality of electricity supply. The total value of the works was slightly over EUR 133,000.

Procurement and installation of NXplus SBB switchgear (6 panels) with relays at the Gorica A 35/10 kV substation is under way. The contract is worth approximately EUR 334,000. It provides for the complete replacement of the 35 kV section of the switchgear with new switchgear and relay devices from the renowned German equipment manufacturer Siemens. Users in the City Centre, Zagorič, Momišići, Malo Brdo, Stara Zlatica, Rogami, Piperi, and Doljani will benefit from this project.

In addition, a contract for the procurement, installation, and commissioning of a new 35 kV metering panel at the Danilovgrad 35/10 kV substation will be implemented in July. The contract is worth nearly EUR 72,500 and provides for the installation of a new metering panel manufactured by Germany’s Schneider Electric. Once the project is completed, the Danilovgrad area will have a more reliable and higher-quality electricity supply.

The aim of these investment projects is to improve the reliability of electricity supply for users in the Capital City, the Golubovci Municipality, and the Municipality of Danilovgrad by replacing worn-out switchgear components with new ones, which will extend the service life of equipment at these particularly important substations in the electricity distribution system.

The Maintenance Sector has actively participated in carrying out the contracted works, particularly in preparations for their commencement, including the necessary activities to identify and implement temporary switching configurations so that all users would have a reliable electricity supply during the works. The Maintenance Sector is also providing expert supervision of the dismantling, installation, relay parameterisation, testing, and commissioning works.

The works at the Gornja Zeta and Gorica A substations are being carried out by “Eminent” of Podgorica, while “Schneider Electric Srbija” d.o.o. Belgrade will carry out the works at the Danilovgrad substation.
