January consumption at last year’s level

In January, users of the electricity distribution system consumed a total of 276,281,288 kWh of electricity, slightly more than the consumption recorded during the same period last year and at the level of December consumption. The largest share of electricity, around 40 per cent, was distributed to users in the areas of Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Tuzi and Cetinje (Region 2).

A total of 392,430 meters, or 93 per cent of the total number, were read (the unread metering points are located in properties that are not permanently occupied). The meter-reading rate at metering points equipped with new electronic meters was 99 per cent.

In January, the teams of the Maintenance Sector carried out 1,524 field interventions. The value of works on the maintenance of electricity infrastructure amounted to around €93,000.

A total of 293 new users were connected to the distribution network.

CEDIS has initiated a public procurement procedure, as well as a procedure to obtain urban planning and technical conditions for the construction of the 35/10 kV “Bigova” substation. Construction of this facility, for which approximately €1.8 million has been allocated, will significantly contribute to the stability of electricity supply in parts of the coastal municipalities, as well as create the prerequisites for connecting new users. Works worth €600,000 are also under way to relocate electricity infrastructure within the zone of the “Podgorica–Danilovgrad” main road reconstruction. In the Kotor area, work is under way on the construction of two 10/0.4 kV substations (“Lastva most” and “Studentski dom”), valued at around €145,000.

Last month, 24 new electronic meters were installed in Montenegro. The total number of metering points in Montenegro equipped with remotely managed electronic meters is around 338,000, covering more than 80 per cent of the customer base.

CEDIS’s core activity is the distribution of electricity and the construction and maintenance of distribution facilities and the network. CEDIS distributes electricity to around 420,000 users throughout Montenegro.
