Losses in September: 7.23 per cent

Through intensive and dedicated work, CEDIS continues to reduce network losses. In September, losses were brought down to a historic low of 7.23%, which is 0.72 percentage points lower than in September 2024, when losses stood at 7.95%, despite the 231,212.307 MWh of electricity taken, 5,261.750 MWh more than the electricity taken in September last year (225,950.557 MWh).

Based on an analysis and calculation of the reduction in electricity losses, our company saved over one million euros in the first nine months of 2025 compared with the same period of the previous year.

During the first nine months of the current year, the energy taken amounted to 2,415,896.63 MWh.

Losses were reduced to 235,126.34 MWh (9.73%), representing a decrease from 245,637.08 MWh (10.17%), the level recorded in the first nine months of 2024.

On this basis, multiplying the 10,510.74 MWh saved by the contracted price per MWh for 2025 (€104.15) gives total savings of €1,094,693.50 in the first nine months.

Savings for the stated period this year, compared with 2023, amount to €2,150,368.05; compared with 2022, €4,544,796.25; and compared with 2021, €5,889,421.46.

Finally, we note that the key factors contributing to the reduction in electricity losses were the actions carried out by the Metering Sector, primarily the campaign to inspect illegal users and monitor losses in transformer areas. These activities by the Metering Sector were accompanied by significant investment in the network at all voltage levels, particularly the refurbishment of the medium- and low-voltage networks, reconstruction of the low-voltage network, the start of preparations for the network’s SCADA system implementation, and other activities within the Operations Directorate.
