The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System is successfully nearing the end of the second year of projects to revitalize the medium-voltage and low-voltage networks. The works contracted for the second year are worth around 12 million euros, and the projects are focused on reconstructing the network and improving the quality of electricity supply in rural areas throughout Montenegro. In accordance with the contractual obligations, the works should be completed by the beginning of the winter season.
– By the end of August, around 300 km of network in rural areas had been reconstructed, around 3,700 poles had been replaced, all worn-out network components had been replaced, and new, high-quality equipment had been installed. Once the works are complete, around five thousand customers can expect a better quality of supply; and if we also take into account the results of the first year of the revitalization projects, improved voltage conditions have been ensured for 15 thousand users of the electricity distribution network in villages throughout Montenegro – said Vuko Vukićević, Head of the Maintenance Sector.
As part of the second year, seven 10 kV overhead lines were covered (“Velimlje” in Nikšić, “Lijeva Rijeka” in Podgorica, “Virpazar” and “Ostros” in Bar, “Biševo” in Rožaje, “Gornja Morača” in Kolašin and “Boljanići” in Pljevlja), with their revitalization costing around 10 million euros. At the same time, reconstruction works worth two million euros were carried out on an additional four 10 kV overhead lines (“Lipovik” in Cetinje, “Hoti” in Tuzi, “Mrke Petrovići” in Podgorica and “Konjuhe” in Andrijevica).
We would like to remind you that a total of 26 million euros has been invested to date in the reconstruction of around 800 km of 10 kV overhead lines through projects to revitalize the medium-voltage and low-voltage networks, significantly improving the quality of supply in some rural areas of Montenegro.
The works are being carried out by a consortium comprising the Montenegrin companies “Mezon” d.o.o. Danilovgrad, “Electro Team” d.o.o. Budva and “Ramel” d.o.o. Nikšić, with which a framework agreement was signed in December 2018 for the needs of the Project to Revitalize the Medium-Voltage (MV) and Low-Voltage (LV) Electricity Network.
