With the commissioning of the “Velje Brdo” 35/10 kV substation, worth more than one million euros, CEDIS has successfully completed another important project. The construction of this facility has created the conditions for improving the quality of electricity supply for around 1,300 customers in the areas of Rogami, Velje Brdo, Vranjske Njive, Piperi and part of Zagorič.
– CEDIS continuously works on planning and developing the distribution network in order to improve the quality of supply for existing customers and create the conditions for connecting new ones. That is precisely what we are achieving by commissioning the “Velje Brdo” substation. Supply conditions for existing customers have been significantly improved, and infrastructure has been provided for the development of this area, which is attractive both for residential construction and for business activity. From the perspective of the electricity distribution system, construction of this facility has resolved the problem of overloading on the “Danilovgrad” feeder, established a new supply point and thereby relieved the existing “Gorica-B” 35/10 kV substation. In addition, the “Danilovgrad” feeder has been reorganised into three new, significantly shorter 10 kV lines, achieving a higher level of security and quality in electricity supply for customers in the area from Zagorič to Velje Brdo – said Boris Ostojić, Head of the ICT and Development, Investments and Grid Access Directorate, at the event held to mark the commissioning of the facility.

The project involved construction of a new substation building, installation of 35 kV and 10 kV air-insulated switchgear and transformers (35/10 kV, 2 x 2.5 MVA), as well as integration of the substation into the 35 kV and 10 kV networks. The construction work was carried out by “Eminent” d.o.o. Podgorica, with subcontractors “Eurozox” and “Geotin MNE”.
Project implementation activities were managed by Vojislava Cerović, Chief Engineer in CEDIS’s Investments Sector.
In addition to this project, the previous month CEDIS successfully completed the reconstruction of the 10 kV switchgear at the “Centar” 35/10 kV substation in Podgorica, at a cost of €1.3 million.
– Given the conditions imposed by the global energy crisis, it is important to point out that this year has been quite challenging in terms of maintaining the pace of investment. Despite the unfavourable circumstances, numerous projects have been completed and opportunities created for the imminent implementation of multi-million-euro investments of great importance both to businesses and citizens and to the electricity distribution system. First and foremost, I have in mind the “Duklo” 35/10 kV substation in Nikšić, for which we have created all the prerequisites for construction to begin as early as next year. In addition, in accordance with the Investment Plan, we have issued public tenders on a “turnkey” basis for the “Grbalj” and “Bigova” 35/10 kV substations in Kotor, as well as for the “Tri krsta” substation in the Tivat area of Luštica. A public tender has also been issued for the construction of the “Volođa” 35/10 kV substation in Pljevlja. In other words, these are five projects worth around ten million euros, whose implementation is assured and whose infrastructural importance to Montenegro’s economy and electricity distribution system customers is exceptional – concluded Ostojić.
