Despite CEDIS’s desire and policy not to engage in day-to-day political issues, we are compelled to respond to the Democrats’ statement about the “scandalous allocation of housing loans at the end of the term” in order to protect the company’s reputation.
First of all, we wish to inform the public that the statement in question deliberately or inadvertently “forgot” to mention that, in accordance with the Collective Agreement and the Rules on Resolving Housing Needs, CEDIS addresses this matter for all employees, not only management members and employees in positions of importance to the Employer. In the four years since CEDIS began operating separately from EPCG, housing needs have been addressed for 214 employees, of whom only 32 hold positions of importance to the Employer. Of the total funds allocated for this purpose in accordance with CEDIS’s obligation under the Collective Agreement, 81 percent was awarded to employees, while 19 percent was awarded to management members or employees in positions of importance to the Employer. This approach to employees is why CEDIS is recognised as a company that demonstrates social responsibility in this way as well. This practice is no secret “that needs to be uncovered,” but a decades-long practice of the system from which CEDIS originated, as well as a practice followed by Montenegro’s leading companies and non-profit institutions such as the University, courts, and others. Housing needs are not addressed “out of citizens’ pockets,” but from the company’s multimillion-euro profits; management, along with every employee, is among those responsible for the company’s good business results. It is also strange that the statement in question claims that this is happening in the final month of management’s term, since management has not been informed of this, and, as before, it will fulfil its obligations to employees until the last day of its term (whenever that may be), in accordance with the law and the company’s internal acts.
Since its establishment, Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem has, as a responsible company, cared for all its employees, for which it was also awarded in 2018, including for its work in addressing housing needs. The housing needs of all employees have been addressed every year since 2017, in accordance with the Collective Agreement signed with the representative trade union organisations. This is therefore not something that happens at the beginning or end of anyone’s term, but rather in accordance with the internal acts, which we hope every management team will respect.
