With regard to the article “Power cut to the mosque in Konik on the first day of Eid; Šaljaj: CEDIS has no empathy whatsoever, leaving worshippers in the dark”, published on your portal, we are obliged to respond and, accordingly, inform you of the following:
Today, 6 June, as on every other working day, CEDIS carried out routine inspections and disconnected users illegally connected to the network without authorisation. Among those disconnected was the facility described in the article as a religious building. However, this facility is registered as an unauthorised connection under consumer number 193481417, at the address Vrela 5, Podgorica, as a private individual, and not as a religious building. We would also like to point out that, based on its appearance, it is not possible to determine on site that it is a religious building.
Since CEDIS has not issued consent to connect the aforementioned facility to the network, nor has a connection agreement been signed with our company, CEDIS is obliged, in accordance with the Energy Law, to disconnect such users from the network and prepare a bill for the unauthorised use of electricity. In this regard, we inform the public that the aforementioned facility had previously also been disconnected from the network on the same grounds.
In addition, our company maintains a professional relationship with all religious communities and respects the observance of all religious holidays, as the public is already aware. We firmly believe that our response will lead readers to this conclusion—or, rather, remind them—that the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System operates strictly in accordance with the law.
Finally, the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System wishes all members of the Islamic faith a happy Eid al-Adha.
