Response to the statement by Nikola Rakočević, Member of Parliament for the Democratic Party of Socialists

We call on all citizens of Montenegro, including the malicious manipulators from the DPS, to initiate proceedings before the competent authorities without hesitation regarding any activities undertaken during CEDIS’s new management which they believe to be unlawful. Today, the greatest falsehoods since the DPS began targeting CEDIS from the opposition benches were put forward. First and foremost, the figures presented on the number of employees are inaccurate. Moreover, claims that the electricity distribution system is allegedly at risk were made without a shred of evidence. The Prosecutor’s Office invoked in today’s statement is investigating the procurement and installation of meters, but from the period when the DPS appointed its people to positions at CEDIS, because there is indeed work for the prosecuting authorities there. This is probably also the reason for these statements by the DPS, since this party will never again act unlawfully within this company.

CEDIS operates within the framework of the law and, despite the difficult circumstances of the global energy crisis, is managing, as the distribution system operator, to ensure regular operations and a stable electricity supply. Despite market volatility, and bearing in mind the importance of procuring meters for the Company’s operations, we have managed to secure meters from several suppliers within the framework prescribed by the relevant regulations—a first since CEDIS was established.

We are convinced that the Prosecutor’s Office cannot find enough time to deal with cases arising from decades of wrongdoing in the previous period, and that it has more pressing work than acting on the DPS’s malicious, politically motivated and, above all, false allegations.
