The sports facilities at the Slovenska Plaža tourist complex in Budva today hosted the opening of the sports gathering of employees of the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS). The event was officially opened by Executive Director Vladimir Ivanović, who emphasized the importance of such gatherings in building team spirit and fostering sporting values among employees. He welcomed everyone present and wished them an enjoyable time at this event, which embodies camaraderie and collegiality—qualities that are very important to the spirit of any company.
“May the spirit of sportsmanship prevail at the games, and may the best competitors win and take home the trophies,” said the CEDIS Executive Director.
On behalf of the trade union organizations, the participants were welcomed by Bešir Kajević, Chair of the Games Organizing Committee and a member of the EPSU Presidium in Brussels; Igor Mijušković, President of SOZ; and Mihailo Minić, President of the CEDIS Professional Trade Union.
Kajević expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between employee representatives and the company’s management, which has resulted in pay increases in recent years, as well as with the fact that they are close to resolving the issue which, pursuant to the Law and an order from the State Audit Institution (DRI), led to pay reductions for certain categories of employees.
He also said that he was extremely pleased that, after 15 years, all participants were wearing the same T-shirts, as this is proof of togetherness, trade union unity and the strength of the CEDIS team.
Igor Mijušković said he was pleased that employees had gathered in large numbers again this year, not only to demonstrate their sporting spirit, but also to embody what the trade union always considers most important—togetherness, solidarity and team spirit.
“May sport inspire us to be stronger both at work and in life, and for us on the Organizing Committee, spending time together amid laughter and positive energy will be the greatest reward and the most important thing we take away from these gatherings,” said Mijušković.
Mihailo Minić also expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with CEDIS’s senior management and their attitude towards employees, as confirmed by the fact that EPCG allocates less than eight percent of its total revenue to salaries, while CEDIS allocates as much as around 30 percent.
“I am pleased with the employee turnout, which shows that this tradition should be upheld, as these gatherings demonstrate togetherness and team spirit. I expect fair play, enjoyable camaraderie, a positive competitive spirit and a great atmosphere to mark these Sports Gatherings, and for unity and harmony to always be hallmarks of our team,” said Minić.
At the end of the ceremony, the Executive Director added that he was pleased by the trade union representatives’ comments about their good cooperation with management, which is always committed to finding the best solutions for the benefit of employees—and will continue to be so in the future.
Several hundred competitors from across Montenegro are taking part in these gatherings, making them a true celebration of sport and togetherness. This outstanding traditional event will give athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete in 12 disciplines, while also demonstrating the cooperation and collegiality that characterize the work of our teams in the field.
The competitions, which promise plenty of excitement and enjoyment, will continue until Saturday, when the awards ceremony will be held to present certificates and prizes to the top participants. An exciting programme is expected, along with support from colleagues, which will further motivate the competitors to achieve their best results.
