Around thirty third-year students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, studying Energy and Automation, visited the 110/10 kV Podgorica 4 substation. They gained practical experience with material covered in the High-Voltage Switchgear course.
The students had the opportunity to learn more about the substation’s equipment and hear from colleagues in the Operations Department, as well as their professor, Vladan Radulović, about the characteristics of the 110/10 kV Podgorica 4 substation. They also saw first-hand everything they study in theory about large facilities.
Professor Vladan Radulović stressed that visits by students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering to CEDIS facilities are a regular annual practice and provide valuable support for teaching in the Energy and Automation programme, as well as for Montenegro’s education system as a whole.
“For several years now, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica, in cooperation with CEDIS, has organised these study visits to electricity facilities and substations.
The aim of the visits is to give students the opportunity to see on site how facilities are built, their components and layout, and the conditions under which they operate, thereby complementing the knowledge they have gained through theoretical instruction. Experience has shown that this form of practical teaching significantly helps students master the material and gain a deeper understanding of how substations and the entire system function.

On this occasion, I would like to thank CEDIS employees for their willingness to accommodate the students, and especially for the exceptionally warm welcome and high-quality presentations by the experts at the “Podgorica 4” substation,” Radulović concluded.
As hosts of the visit, employees of the Network Operations Sector made every effort to ensure that the students’ time at the 110/10 kV Podgorica substation was pleasant and, more importantly, safe.
