The Capital City, CEDIS, the Traffic Directorate and Tehnoput MNE are working to resolve problems in Donja Gorica

The Mayor of Podgorica, Dr Ivan Vuković, Director of the Podgorica Agency for Construction and Development Srđan Raičević, CEDIS Executive Director Zoran Đukanović, Head of the CEDIS Operations Directorate Gvozden Filipović, CEDIS Coordinator for Regional Development and Major Projects Mihailo Radenović, Dušan Kokić from the Traffic Directorate, as well as representatives of the contractor Tehnoput MNE and the supervisory body for the Donjogorički Boulevard construction project, met today to jointly review the progress of the works and any challenges faced by all parties involved in the implementation of this capital project.

At the meeting, it was noted that, since this is a very complex project whose implementation involves relocating a large number of utility lines—water, electricity, etc.—this creates additional difficulties for the contractors. As a result, numerous unforeseen situations arise on site every day, slowing the progress of the works and disrupting the daily lives of residents in this part of Podgorica. It should also be borne in mind that traffic along this route must not be suspended at any point, which is an additional complicating factor.

One of the biggest problems along this road route is the frequent interruption of electricity supply to around 1,700 customers in this part of the city. Ways of resolving this issue as effectively as possible, to the mutual satisfaction of residents and the contractors, were therefore considered. To minimise such situations in the coming period, a new construction site work plan was agreed, enabling workers to take extra care when carrying out works in the immediate vicinity of utility lines. Work will also be carried out to install a new power cable in order to create the technical conditions for an alternative power supply should an interruption occur in the coming period. This cable will be installed in the central reservation so that it remains accessible at all times and work on it does not obstruct traffic or construction works.

It was also agreed that CEDIS, as before, will make all its resources available to ensure a rapid response and create the conditions for introducing an alternative power supply for customers in this part of the city as soon as possible, while the Podgorica Agency for Construction and Development will coordinate all other parties to prevent unforeseen faults in other infrastructure.

Given the complexity of the problem, particularly since power cables can directly endanger the lives of people working on site, the Capital City, CEDIS and all other parties involved in implementing this project apologise to residents and ask for their understanding. These processes require more time and care, but we are all working together to minimise such incidents in the coming period and to ensure that this capital project, worth around EUR 10 million, is completed to the highest possible standard and to everyone’s satisfaction.
