The Association of Electrical Engineering Teachers of Montenegro (UPECG), together with the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS), is organising the first competition for students of Montenegrin secondary schools in the field of electrical engineering, “ENERGY IN THE WIRE”, on 22 November at the “Delta City” shopping mall in Podgorica.
Students in the second and third years of schools offering courses in electrical engineering will take part in the competition. Vocational secondary schools in Tivat, Nikšić, Berane, Pljevlja, Rožaje, Bijelo Polje and Podgorica have been invited to participate.
“By organising the competition, we want to connect educational institutions where students acquire the knowledge and skills required for occupations that CEDIS needs to carry out its core activities. It will be an opportunity for secondary school students to demonstrate what they have learned so far in electrical engineering through theoretical and practical work. Since the competition will be open to the public, it will also be a good opportunity for prospective secondary school students to learn about this area of vocational education, which may help guide their future career choices,” said Marija Jovović, Head of the CEDIS Corporate Communications Service.
The competition will consist of theoretical and practical components, and each school may enter one team of three members. Entries from participating schools will be accepted until 7 November.
Valuable cash prizes have also been provided for the competition winners.
“The team taking first place will receive a prize of 750 euros, second place 600 euros, and third place 450 euros. A prize has also been provided for the mentors of the winning teams, as well as for the best school: a laptop,” Jovović added.
CEDIS and UPECG will form a jury to evaluate the theoretical and practical work and announce the best school. The purpose of organising the competition is to promote the electrical engineering profession, as well as the importance of vocational secondary education.
