THE FIRST CIRED MONTENEGRO CONFERENCE HAS BEGUN

The First Conference on Electricity Distribution Networks of Montenegro, organised under the auspices of the CIRED International Conference on Electricity Distribution by the CIRED National Committee, is being held in Budva from 10 to 13 June. Its aim is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience on the shared challenges faced by countries in the region in developing technologies and reorganising and modernising electricity distribution.

The conference’s technical programme is being conducted across six technical committees, where more than 80 papers will be presented, while the accompanying exhibition has brought together more than 30 companies. More than 350 participants are attending the event, including paper authors and representatives of companies taking part in the commercial exhibition, as well as other experts and researchers from Montenegro and neighbouring countries.

The conference was officially opened by Loran Mohamed, State Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, who congratulated the organisers on holding the First Conference and wished all participants a successful and productive event.

On behalf of the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System, attendees were welcomed by Vladimir Čađenović, Chair of the Board of Directors of our company, who also presented CEDIS with a certificate of appreciation for sponsoring the conference.

Čađenović expressed his satisfaction that CEDIS had once again demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by helping to make it possible to hold this significant event.

“I believe that the ‘First Conference on Electricity Distribution Networks’ will provide all participants with an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience on the shared challenges of developing technologies, and organising and modernising electricity distribution. CEDIS has recognised the importance of CIRED Montenegro’s work, and recently initiated a meeting with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ETF) to strengthen and intensify the already productive cooperation between ETF and CIRED Montenegro in areas of mutual interest. Particular emphasis was placed on developing opportunities for the Faculty to support the management team of the CIRED Montenegro National Committee,” Čađenović said.

Čađenović added that CEDIS representatives would also have the opportunity to contribute to the conference by presenting their technical papers alongside experts from the region. This will give visitors access in one place to information on the latest scientific and technical findings relevant to electricity distribution and the electricity sector as a whole. He concluded by wishing the conference success and expressing the hope that it would meet expectations, adding that CEDIS would continue to support CIRED Montenegro.

Participants were also welcomed by the Chair of the CIRED Montenegro Committee, Goran Kovačević, who wished the conference a successful programme. He noted, among other things, that the presence of experts and researchers from the region confirmed the need to draw on practical experience and scientific research to examine as comprehensively as possible the challenges specific to the region in electricity distribution, in a language everyone understands. Appropriate development and organisation of electricity distribution must be planned in order to address the challenges ahead, and this is an ideal opportunity to actively involve young engineers in issues concerning Montenegro’s electricity system.
