These days, the newly built 35/10 kV, 2 x 8 MVA “Popovići” substation in Bar was commissioned, together with its connecting 35 kV and 10 kV cable lines. The construction of these facilities, worth €1.8 million, has significantly increased the security of supply for consumers in the city centre and the suburban areas beneath Rumija.
As part of this exceptionally important project, two 35 kV bays at the 110/35 kV Bar substation were also equipped, the neutral point of the 35 kV network was earthed, and the 35 kV cable line “TS Bar – TS Končar” was replaced, as was most of the route of the “TS Bar – TS Topolica” line, allowing the old lines, which were frequently affected by faults, to be decommissioned.
The “Popovići” substation was built to the highest technical and technological standards, in compliance with urban planning and environmental requirements. Its capacity will meet the growth in the number of consumers in Bar, which has increased by 40 per cent compared with ten years ago. The completion of this largest and most significant investment in Region 4 has ensured stability and brought a new level of quality to the operation of the local distribution system.
