Third- and fourth-year students from the „Vaso Aligrudić“ Secondary School of Electrical Engineering, specialising in telecommunications, visited the CEDIS Training Centre as part of a scheduled educational visit.
The students had the opportunity to learn about working with optical fibre and fibre-optic cables through practical examples, as well as modern telecommunications technologies, and to try working with optical fibre themselves.
The training consisted of theoretical and practical components. The students learned about the types of fibre-optic cables used in the power system and telecommunications, as well as fibre standards, types and designs of optical splice closures, and equipment for fibre-optic installation work and measuring instruments. They were also introduced to the activities of the Telecommunications Department in planning and implementing technical solutions and projects, and maintaining fibre-optic networks.
During the practical part of the presentation, the students went through the process of cable preparation and preparing fibres for splicing, the fibre fusion-splicing process itself and splice protection, as well as final fibre measurements.
Miodrag Ostojić, Chief Telecommunications Engineer at CEDIS, and Puniša Marković, Telecommunications Technician, gave them a detailed introduction to the basic operating principles of modern telecommunications systems and the role of telecommunications in the power system.
Expert guidance and a practical approach enabled the students to connect their theoretical knowledge with a real working environment.
CEDIS continues to cooperate with educational institutions, supporting educational activities that contribute to the development of young people’s professional knowledge and skills, as well as creating opportunities for them to pursue their future careers at our company.
