Ninth anniversary marked by a donation – CEDIS donates over €13,000 to Vaso Ćuković Hospital

To mark nine years of successful operations, the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) donated more than €13,000 to the Vaso Ćuković Special Hospital for Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery and Neurology in Risan. For the second year in a row, CEDIS is marking its anniversary by allocating funds for a donation instead of organising a celebration, investing in the community in which it operates.

“We are continuing to support Vaso Ćuković Hospital, mindful of its importance to society as a whole. We believe the funds allocated will improve working conditions for employees and help enhance the quality of healthcare services for patients. Last year, to mark our eighth anniversary, CEDIS donated funds to various institutions with the same goal—to create better conditions for those most in need of assistance. This is the second consecutive year that, instead of holding a celebration, we have invested funds in healthcare, in the belief that other socially responsible companies will follow our example and recognise the community’s priorities. I am proud of my colleagues and of our joint decision to direct the funds where they are most needed,” said Vladimir Ivanović, CEDIS Executive Director.

In addition to the donation, CEDIS has also planned to refurbish the old substation supplying Vaso Ćuković Hospital, with the aim of providing a more reliable, higher-quality electricity supply, at a cost of approximately €30,000. The works include replacing the 10 kV medium-voltage equipment, including the medium-voltage switchgear, installing new 10 kV cable connections for the transformer, and laying single-core cables and installing new cable terminations. On the low-voltage side, new switchboards are planned for installation and connection to the existing generator and transformer, significantly increasing the safety and stability of the hospital’s power system.

The civil works include refurbishment of the substation and removal of the old generator, to ensure that the facility fully complies with technical regulations and is accessible, safe and functional for day-to-day operation and maintenance.

The Director of the Vaso Ćuković Special Hospital for Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery and Neurology, public healthcare institution, Dr Vlado Popović, expressed his gratitude for this valuable donation.

“The donated funds will enable us to purchase a much-needed Convelar operating theatre light, which is particularly important given the increased capacity of the operating block. We are grateful to the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System, which has once again recognised the needs of our institution. CEDIS is a company that continuously invests in healthcare and, in addition to our hospital, supports other healthcare institutions, confirming its status as one of the most socially responsible companies in Montenegro. On behalf of the patients and staff, and in my own name, I would like to express my sincere gratitude once again for the funds allocated,” said Dr Popović.

The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System continuously contributes to the development of the community through projects in various fields. This donation is just one of many; since the beginning of this year, CEDIS has provided more than €40,000 in support to the healthcare system.
