Investment in the Community

As a socially responsible company, Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem (CEDIS) this year allocated more than half of the total amount earmarked for donations and sponsorships to sports clubs and outstanding individuals, with a particular focus on supporting children – from donations and sponsorships for sports clubs with youth teams to assistance for the Children’s Hospital and funding the shortfall in funds needed for children’s medical treatment.

Of the total amount budgeted for these purposes – 286,000 euros – 155,600 euros was approved for the development of sport in Montenegro. After sport, the largest amounts were allocated to education, healthcare, culture, support for cultural heritage and the community.

Donations to healthcare amounted to 46,068 euros; 47,266 euros was awarded in sponsorships and donations to cultural institutions and the arts, while 12,265 euros was allocated to education.

In the healthcare sector, 30,000 euros was donated to the Children’s Diseases Institute of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro (KCCG), which was used to purchase a state-of-the-art BERA device for early hearing testing in children. The Vaso Ćuković Hospital in Kotor was allocated 13,068 euros for an operating theatre light, enabling it to use an additional operating theatre for patients. Given the importance of this medical institution, this is of exceptional significance for our community as a whole.

This year, many sports clubs with youth teams received funds from CEDIS to help purchase equipment they lacked, so children can develop and grow in better conditions into future champions. These include the trophy-winning Omladinac Karate Club, Rad Kickboxing Club, Zabjelo and Kotor handball clubs, Budućnost Chess Club and many others.

Support continued for the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro (40,000 euros), the Paralympic Committee of Montenegro (10,000 euros), as well as the Chess Federation and Budućnost Chess Club.

Race car driver Filip Kunčer has more than justified the sponsorship. This October in Monza, as a rookie, he completed his first season on the major motorsport circuit as champion in the Challenger category of the Renault Clio Cup.

This year, CEDIS sponsored the Budućnost Women’s Handball Club for the first time, contributing 25,000 euros. The club is synonymous with success in our national sport, through which the country has become known throughout Europe.

Those supported for their outstanding results and contribution to the development of sport include the Morača Women’s Volleyball Club, the Mini-Football Association, Podgorica Karate Club and Ostroška Gora Judo Club.

CEDIS also sponsored kickboxing national team member Vikotor Đukić, kickboxer Nikola Jovetić, the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro and judoka Arso Milić.

In education, donations were made to the Maksim Gorki and Oktoih primary schools in Podgorica, Petar Dedović Primary School in Murino, 30 September Gymnasium in Rožaje, Ivan Uskoković Secondary Vocational School in Podgorica, and the 1 June Resource Centre public institution.

Among higher education institutions, we supported the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. We also continued donating to schools, helping them purchase air conditioners, computers and lighting, and improving schoolyards.

We supported the International Podgorica Book Fair and the Biser Jadrana Festival, and approved individual assistance amounting to 2.5 per cent of the total budget for people who approached us for various reasons, in accordance with our Rulebook governing sponsorships and donations.

Two major projects lie ahead: “Energy in the Wire” and “Energy Underlined in Green” (a total of 23,000 euros has been allocated to them). Through their implementation, educational institutions will raise awareness among students, teachers and the wider community about the importance of protecting the environment.

We provided a special donation to the National Parks of Montenegro to purchase an outboard motor to help combat poaching on Lake Skadar.

CEDIS donations and sponsorships are governed by a dedicated Rulebook, with the aim of promoting the company as a socially responsible entity that contributes to community development.
